A couple of weeks ago Jack Ma shared a resignation letter. If you don’t know Jack, he’s the charismatic leader of Alibaba. He’s created one of the most successful companies in China. In his resignation letter he shares some important advice that might be useful for us all.
In the fourth paragraph Jack says “Because of physical limits on one’s ability and energy, no one can shoulder the responsibilities of chairman and CEO forever.”
There are two elements in this statement to consider:
– You can’t do everything on your own
– Even if you’re key now, it won’t last forever
It seems Jack has been working hard on how to bring up the people around him and success will continue to endure after him. A leader’s job is not complete until they’ve managed to develop the future leaders.
Consider
How are you developing those around you and those that might succeed you?
